How to Decorate for the Fall

August 27, 2015

Get ready the new season starting 9/23! If you're planning on freshening up any rooms, look here first!  If you need help understanding design basics, read our past post.

In order to decorate for the fall, you'll first need to know which colors to use. Above is a great starter palette for fall colors. Just think of natural colors - dying leaves of orange/brown/yellow shades is a good place to start. If you don't know how to make a color palette, check out this post

Mediterranean Kitchen by Scottsdale Interior Designers & Decorators Sesshu Design Associates, Ltd

Here we have a strong brown and yellow mix with some distressed blue back-splash and counter-top tiles to offset the yellow tones. The coffered ceiling adds quality depth to the space.

Farmhouse Kitchen by Monterey Architects & Building Designers Justin Pauly Architects

Using a canary yellow in a utility space like a kitchen adds warmth, giving the space a new and exciting feel without being overwhelming.

Eclectic Home Office by San Francisco Interior Designers & Decorators Green Couch Interior Design

In other living spaces like a living room or office, yellow is best used in moderate doses. The chairs and curtains accent the rest of the room with style.

Transitional Bedroom by Savannah Interior Designers & Decorators Rethink Design Studio

This time in a bedroom, the small amounts of blue and yellow really stand out from the rest of the room, instantly drawing your gaze upon them.

Traditional Kitchen by Boston Architects & Building Designers Jan Gleysteen Architects, Inc

Painting the island cabinetry cobalt blue and distressing the paint really adds character and pops in the kitchen, without being over-the-top.
