It's that time of year again! Before you start your house cleaning process, be sure to check out these tips to save some time and frustration. =)
Fridge Cleaning
Clean out your fridge by putting all your contents in a cooler (or outside if it's cold enough), and wipe away any shelf grime with a non-toxic cleaner, Then, take a vacuum cleaner and get rid of all the dust/dirt collected around the condenser. Not cleaning the condenser will make the fridge have to work harder, causing higher electric bills and reducing the lifespan of the fridge.
Doormat Restoration
Your front entry doormat is the first line of defense against dirt entering your home. Depending on its material, give it a good shake down, a once-over with the vacuum, or clean with some liquid soap, water & a brush then hang to dry. These should be cleaned at least quarterly.
Tiles
For tiles, use a neutral ph cleaner or a homemade mixture of the following:
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 3 tbsp salt
- 3 tbsp dishwashing liquid
Be sure to test on a small area before applying throughout.
Curtains
Curtains are pretty easy to clean. Just use a steam cleaner to get them in great shape again. It only takes a few minutes per curtain; and you don't have to remove them!
Update Bedspread
It's always a great idea to update your bedspread with the change of season. Spring colors are more on the cool and soft side, but you don't have to be like everybody else. Just choose your favorite design that goes with the current color theme of your room, or a nice contrast.
