Finding A Trustworthy Contractor

Trying to find a contractor can be difficult when there are tens of them operating in your area. Your goal is to find someone who will do all requested work for the lowest price. Here are some ways to avoid potential headaches and choosing one that's right for you.

Third Party Verification

This method is one of the most useful. Check to see if the contractor is listed on sites like HomeAdvisor, Houzz or the Better Business Bureau. These sites verify the integrity of the contractor.

Read Reviews

Houzz

Reading reviews should be a critical part of the selection process. A contractor can be verified legitimate and still perform poorly. The ideal candidate should have overwhelmingly positive reviews for you to read. If testimonials seem too generic, that usually indicates they're fallacious.

Social Media

Check to see if the contractor uses social media to engage the public. You don't want to hire someone who hates their job; it'll reflect in their work. Hire someone who is proud, that will want to take pictures of the finished project and upload them to their website and social media accounts.

Check Their Website

Inspect all the pages of their site. Be especially sure to view their gallery. Make sure their work has the merit to earn your valuable dollars.

Don't Be Stingy

Seriously. Virtually every time a potential client chose a different contractor over us because of price, we eventually received a call from them expressing their regret and disappointment for not going with us. Don't put yourself in that situation! You will get what you pay for.

Once you think you've chosen the right company for the job, be sure to scrutinize the contract. Ask questions about anything you're not sure about, and make sure they give clear answers. The last thing you want is additional charges after you thought you've made your final payment.

Good luck out there!
