Replace with Rocks
If you want the least maintenance possible - dig up the grass (including the roots), and replace with pebbles.

Is the look of rocks too boring? Then perhaps the look of walkways and shrubs appeals more. Some pretty, low-maintenance plants include:
- Tropicanna canna
- Japanese Holly
- Autumn Fern
- Aster
Sedge Lawn
A third major type of landscape you could build is one composing of sedge lawn. This grass can grow between 8-16" and can deal with moderate foot traffic. It is also great at surviving drought conditions.
