Follow these few tips to create a neat, magnificent work of tile art in your home.
A Better Bond
With larger tiles, trowel a thin layer of thinset on the back before it's set. Then set the trowel near the center of tile and spread to the edge. Then rotate the tile a quarter turn and repeat until it is covered.
Use a Laser Level
Prevent mistakes by using a laser level. Make sure the laser is properly level, then chalk the line and properly measure/set your tile.
Let the Grout Dry
Wiping the grout too soon allows too much water to epentrate, which means blotchy or hairline cracking. Wait until the grout is about wine cork consistency before you clean it.
Waterproof Wet Areas
If you're unsure about water, coat everywhere you think needs it. Follow the application instructions on the container.
